Beijing Introduction
As the capital of China, Beijing is the political, economical, cultural and educational center of the whole country and plays an important role in international trade and communications. Beijing is so rich in history and culture yet has the vibrancy of a city which has been reborn. Beijing tour routes designed by BeijingService Team seeks to provide you with eternal memory in Beijing.

Beijing is one of the six ancient capitals in China. The time-honored city was enchased by the vicissitude of centuries-old history, and left us with many great masterpieces. The most representative includes Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Badaling Great Wall, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Ming Tombs, Mutianyu Great Wall...
Contrast to the ancient heritage, you will marvel at the city's modern and fashion.

Beijing Climate
Beijing's climate is defined as "continental monsoon." The four seasons are distinctly recognizable. Spring and autumn is the best time to be in Beijing, particularly in the months of April, May, September and October. Autumn is considered to be the best time to visit Beijing as the skies are clear and the weather is very comfortable. The four seasons are very clear in Beijing with a temperate spring, rainy summer, clear autumn, and a cold, snowy winter. The average temperature throughout the year is 11.80. The coldest month is January with an average temperature of -4.60 and the hottest month is July at an average temperature of 26.10. Unfortunately, spring and autumn are shorter than summer and winter. Although winter is technically longer, that should not keep you from travelling to Beijing as indoor heating is widely available. Nevertheless, as the indoor/outdoor temperature difference is rather large, travelers should be prepared with warm clothing and a thick coat is recommended for the colder months of the year. In winter, off-season discounts are to be had as well.
Bilingual weather information can be obtained by dialing 121 when in Beijing.

The approach of the 2008 Olympics has prompted frenzied construction and renovations, giving Beijing visitors more choice, especially at the luxury level, though rates have been steadily climbing. Budget options abound, especially when you get away from foreign-owned chains, and backpackers will find a number of hostels. For luxury the big international chains and Chinese five-stars are no longer the only options, as a number of smaller high-end boutique and designer hotels have found homes in rehabilitated hutong and other pre-war buildings. It's always a good rule of thumb to book in advance, and as the Olympics approach it will become a near necessity.

Beijing Transportation
Beijing is the largest transport hub in Northern China with convenient transportation links extending in all directions. The modern international airport and radiating road and rail network ensures ease of access whilst on your pleasant Beijing tour.

1:Capital Airport
Beijing is one of China's three major international hubs, along with Shanghai and Hong Kong. You can catch a nonstop flight here from New York (13¾ hours), Chicago (13 1/2 hours), Sydney (11 1/2 hours), Los Angeles (13 hours), and London (11 hours). Note that Air China is the only operator that runs nonstop Los Angeles and London flights. Otherwise flights from Los Angeles generally stop in Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, or Vancouver, taking between 17 and 25 hours.

The Beijing Capital Airport is Chinas top air hub, with 98 international, 21 regional and 757 domestic air routes linking the capital with 54 cities in 39 countries.More than 40 foreign airlines have set up booking offices in Beijing.

2:Railway Station
Railway Station
China's enormous rail network is one of the world's busiest. Trains are usually safe and run strictly to schedule. Although there are certain intricacies to buying tickets, once you've got one, trips are generally hassle-free. Beijing is a major rail hub. Services to all over China leave from its four huge stations. The Trans-Siberian Railway and services to Shanghai, among others, leave from Beijing Zhan, the main station. Trains to Hong Kong and to areas in the west and south of China leave from Beijing Xi Zhan (West). Most of the Z-series trains (nonstop luxury services) come into these two stations. Lesser lines to the north and east of the country leave from Beijing Bei Zhan (North) and Beijing Dong Zhan (East).

You can buy most tickets 10 days in advance; 2 to 3 days ahead is usually enough time, except during the three national holidays -- Chinese New Year (2 days in mid-January to February), Labor Day (May 1), and National Day (October 1). If you can, avoid traveling then -- tickets sell out weeks in advance.

3:Public bus
Public buses in Beijing play an important role in the common people's daily lives. Bus numbers beginning with '8' are air-conditioned; other numbers indicate double-decker, special tour lines, night buses, and so on. The ticket price is 1 Yuan for city routes, while ticket prices for bus with air conditioning is 2 Yuan.If there is no conductor on the bus, passengers should board the bus at the front, drop ticket fee into the box and exit at the rear.
Tip: Since some buses are self-service, please prepare small bills before boarding.

4: Subway Staion
Subway is the fastest transportation vehicle in Beijing. Presently there are four subway lines in Beijing connecting city center stops such as Tian'anmen Square, Qianmen, and the railway station with outlying areas and till 2008, there will be nine routes in Beijing.

The operating hours of the subway are from 5:00 a.m. until 23:00 p.m., Line 13 is from 06:00 a.m. to 09:00 p.m. and the price ranges from 2 to 6 Yuan, commuter tickets accepted. Passengers can inquire of the subway staff if you have queries in order to avoid taking the wrong direction and wasting time. While Beijing subways are not as good as those in Shanghai and Guangzhou, compared with the congested road network; they are a far better choice for getting around the city.

5: Beijing Taxi
Taxis are plentiful, easy to spot, and by far the most comfortable way to get around Beijing, though increasing traffic means they're not always the fastest. There's a flagfall of Y10 for the first 4 km (2 1/2 mi), then Y2 per kilometer thereafter. After 11 PM flagfall goes up to Y11, and there's a 20% surcharge per kilometer.

Drivers usually know the terrain well, but most don't speak English; having your destination written in Chinese is a good idea. (Keep a card with the name of your hotel on it for the return trip.) Hotel doormen can also help you tell the driver where you're going. It's a good idea to study a map and have some idea where you are, as some drivers will take you for a ride -- a much longer one -- if they think they can get away with it.

Beijing Shopping
Shopping in Beijing is becoming more convenient by the day. Every year new shopping centers and plazas are sprouting up all over the capital. Just a few years ago there was only a few department stores and small bazaars, but now there are many superstores, mega-malls and markets where you can buy just about anything you need. Recently, the first IKEA just opened in the north of the city. There is a huge PrICE Smart which is a discount wholesale foodstuffs market for cardholders only. The Silk Market at Xiushui Jie and the free market at Sanlitun are also favorites among tourists, expats and locals alike.
A visitor will also find many large and middle sized shopping complexes scattered about the city. Each of these modern shopping centres radiate with colourful vigor. Wangfujing Dajie, Qianmen, Xidan and Dongsi are the four largest business zones of Beijing. Large-scaled shopping malls with luxury goods of super brands are everywhere to be found in the city center. There are various places to go for shopping, depending on what buyers expect and the prices they are prepared to pay.

Credit cards (including Visa, MasterCard, AE, Dinersclub and JCB) are also acceptable there. Bringing some cash is always necessary in the event that you'd like to buy something from the street vendors.

Credit Cards
Major credit cards such as Master Card, Visa, JCB, Diners and American Express can be used to purchase goods in large department stores. They can be uesd to pay for hotel rooms, shopping centers and for meals in some of the fancier restaurants.

Beijing Nightlife
Beijing will not only ensure that you have a full and interesting day but will also present you with colorful choices when darkness falls.

Traditional performances such as the Beijing Opera, acrobatic shows and dramatic performances in the teahouses are popular with the more mature visitors to the city, while the younger generation seems to favor the snack markets, pubs, clubs and cafes.
