Prince Qing's Mansion Period

From the fourth year of the Jiaqing reign (1799) to the 30th year of the Daoguang reign (1850)

In the third lunar month of the fourth year of Jiaqing's reign, Yonglin, the 17th son of the Qianlong Emperor, also the Prefectural Prince Qing, obtained Heshen's mansion.

Emperor Jiaqing gave Heshen's mansion to Yonglin for two reasons. First, Yonglin had just been conferred the title of Prefectural Prince Qing and needed a residence. Second, Yonglin had long been interested in Heshen's mansion. The Jiaqing Emperor granted it to Yonglin, fulfilling his brother's expectations. Heshen's collapse brought a lot of other benefits for Yonglin. In addition to the mansion, he also received Qingyudang, a pawn shop under the name of Heshen, as well as 75 storefronts along the street at the entrance of the mansion.

In the third lunar month of the 25th year of the Jiaqing reign (1820), Yonglin died of illness. Mianmin, the third son of his, inherited the title of Prefectural Prince Qing and became the second owner of Prince Qing's Mansion.

In the 16th year of the Daoguang reign (1836), Mianmin died of illness and the title of Prefectural Prince Qing was inherited by his son Yicai, who became the third owner of Prince Qing's Mansion.

In the 22nd year of the Daoguang reign (1842), it was revealed that Yicai had taken a concubine and gave birth to a child during his mother's mourning period, and later he was found to have paid bribes to the secretary of the imperial clan court, therefore he lost the title of Prefectural Prince Qing.

Yonglin's fifth son, Mianti, was conferred the title of Zhenguo General and inherited the sacrificial rites of Yonglin as the fourth owner of Prince Qing’s Mansion.

In the 29th year of Daoguang's reign (1849), Mianti died of illness with no heir. Yikuang, son of Mianti's younger brother Mianxing, succeeded the title of Fuguo General and became the fifth owner of Prince Qing's Mansion.

Not long after Yikuang inherited the title, he was ordered to move to the old house of Qishan, which is not far to the west of the mansion.
